Racers 14 Hits Not Enough in Midweek Road Test

Murray State fell 7-6 to UT Martin on Wednesday afternoon
Dustin Mercer once again pieced together his fifth straight multihit game with two base hits and a run scored to raise his team-high batting average to .350 for the season. Brennan McCullough had two hits in the game to go with an RBI while leadoff man Logan Bland had a two-hit day of his own. Cade Sammons and Seth Gardner each picked up a pair of hits in the outing with Gardner smacking an RBI double.
Riley Hawthorne was the top RBI man with a two-RBI double in the eighth inning.
Nathan Holler shined in relief once again, tossing a pair of scoreless frames while striking out two. Alex Elsing tossing a scoreless inning out of the bullpen, allowing now baserunners and earning two strikeouts.
The Racers will be back in MVC action this weekend when they host Evansville at Johnny Reagan Field for Alumni Weekend at the ballpark.
