Racers Unable to Hold Off Aces

Murray State fell 7-6 to Evansville on Saturday afternoon
Murray State baseball fell 7-6 to Evansville on Saturday afternoon at Johnny Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky. Starting pitcher Jacob Pennington had a strong performance for the Racers, allowing just one run across 6.2 innings pitched while striking out five.
Pennington lowered his season ERA to 2.83 across a team high 63.1 innings pitched and is allowing an opponent batting average of just .203 with 52 strikeouts.
Three MSU batters had a multihit performance in Cade Sammons, Drew Vogel, and Taylor Howell. Sammons launched his second home run of the season while Vogel and Howell each picked up a double in the contest.
Brennan McCullough hit his seventh home run of the year while adding two RBIs to bring his total to a team-high 37. Logan Bland added a single and an RBI to round out the scoring for MSU.
The Racers and Purple Aces will battle twice more across 18 innings in a double header on Sunday beginning at 12 p.m.
