After trailing 7-1 in the fifth inning, Murray State scored seven unanswered capped off by a walkoff home run by Carson Garner

Murray State baseball won in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night with a walk-off home run by Carson Garner to capture an 8-7 victory at Johnny Reagan Field. After trailing 7-1 into the fifth inning, the Racer lineup put together seven unanswered runs to lead one of the most exciting games of the season for MSU.

Garner was the hero of the night for the Racers as the walk-off home run was his fifth long ball of the year and earned him a team high 39th RBI of the season.

The Murray State lineup was led by the top two hitters in the order in Logan Bland and Dustin Mercer combining to reach base six times including five hits. In the eighth inning, the pairing came up clutch with an RBI-triple from Bland to bring MSU within one run before Mercer tied the game on an RBI single up the middle to score Bland.

Mercer put together a three hit, three RBI day at the plate to raise his team-high batting average to .350 and is the lone Racer over 100 total bases with 102. Designated hitter Parker Estes had a strong day at the dish with two knocks including an RBI double as he also reached base twice more with a pair of walks.

The trio of Allen Roulette, Thomas McNabb, and Nathan Holler held the Lions at bay, combining for 4.0 scoreless innings while allowing just one UNA hit. Roulette tossed two hitless frames with a pair of strikeouts while McNabb allowed just one hit in a scoreless inning.

Holler earned his first win of the season as he threw a perfect ninth inning with two strikeouts to hold UNA in check.

MSU is back in Missouri Valley Conference action this weekend when they travel to Nashville for a three-game swing with long time foe Belmont.
