The Murray State women's soccer team will square off with the Jackson State Tigers on Sunday, August 27 at 1 p.m. at the JSU Soccer Complex in Jackson, Miss.
This will be the first meeting all-time on the pitch between the two programs.
The Racers are looking to bounce back after falling to Kentucky at home. Sophomore Mary Hardy has scored the only goal for MSU, with now six career goals netted. Morgan Bodker, Hannah Carter and Audrey Henry have yet to be subbed off the pitch this season.
Murray State enters the match putting more than half of its shots on target (7-for-13). Carter leads the team with two of her three shots in frame this year.
Scouting Report
Jackson State enters the match after having its last match with Arkansas State called off at halftime due to excessive heat conditions. The Tigers fell in the match prior to Southern Illinois, 2-1. JSU's Maya-Joy Thompson scored her team's lone goal for the match in the 67th minute to tie the score, but the Salukis retook the lead in the 79th minute on a penalty kick.
Six players on the Tigers' roster were named to the Preseason All-SWAC Team, along with JSU predicted to win the conference this season. The Tigers were conference regular-season and tournament champions in 2022 after defeating No. 2 seed Grambling State in a double-overtime thriller in the championship game. After receiving a bid for the NCAA Tournament, JSU fell to Alabama in the first round, 9-0.
