The Murray State women's soccer team is set to square away with UIC at Flames Field in Chicago, Illinois on September 28 at 6 p.m. CT.
This will be just the second time that the Flames and Racers will face off on the pitch, with last year's inaugural matchup between the two squads ending in a 1-1 tie at Cutchin Field in Murray.
MSU is looking to extend its MVC unbeaten streak to four after ending the first three matches of the conference slate in scoreless ties.
The Racers are heading into Thursday's matchup with two of the four conference players of the week representing the Blue and Gold. Senior Audrey Henry was awarded MVC Defender of the Week and freshman goalkeeper Griselda Revolorio received MVC Goalkeeper of the Week honors, announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Sophomore Mary Hardy remains the team's leader in goals (2), assists (2), points (6), shots (26), and shots on goal (15). Senior Hailey Cole and sophomore Sydney Etter each have a goal scored, 11 shots taken, and five shots put in frame.
Scouting Report
The Flames enter the match holding a 3-5-2 record and a 2-1 record in conference play. They are coming off a 3-1 Senior Day win at home against Drake. The Flames outshot the Bulldogs 10-2, seven of which were taken in the first 45 minutes. Emmy Higgins, Katelyn Nardulli and Sophia Jaime each scored their first goals of the season in the match.
As a team, UIC has taken 90 shots this year, putting 46.7% of them on target. The Flames have a near split on the scoring end with six goals in the first half and five in the second half.
Makenna Meloy and Bella Baker lead the team with two goals scored apiece, with Meloy also leading the team in points (8) and assists (4). Meloy also is tied for the most assists by an MVC player so far this year.
Meloy, Baker, and Makena Shaw make up just under 38% of the team's total shots taken with 34 combined. Jaime currently holds the second-best shots-on-goal percentage on the team (0.778, min. five shots).
