Racers Host Illinois State and Bradley on Family Weekend

Murray State volleyball hosts the Redbirds and Braves for their fourth and fifth MVC matchups.

Murray State Volleyball will host their second weekend of Missouri Valley Conference matchups, Friday and Saturday. Illinois State will open the weekend when the Racers go against them on Friday. Bradley will close the weekend when they visit Racer Arena for a midday match on Saturday.

The Racers are coming off a midweek five-set loss to Belmont and are sitting at fourth on the MVC standings. There are only four teams that have played three conference games this season.

The Redbirds are coming off two losses against Drake (1-3) and Northern Iowa (0-3) and are 0-2 in the conference. They have a 2-12 overall record with wins over St. Thomas (Sep. 15) and Green Bay (Sep. 16).

Sophomore Aida Shadewald leads the Redbirds in kills with 159, followed by Hannah Reichensperger with 122. Emily Webber is Illinois State's primary control tower, with 380 assists through the season.

The Braves have a 7-8 record and are 0-2 in conference play. They are coming off back-to-back losses to Drake and UNI.

Senior Jasmine Green leads the Braves with 125 kills, while libero Dru Kuck leads the backline with 207 digs. The Braves have two control towers with senior Loren Scott (246 assists) and freshman Corrie Brown (224).

- DeMier is ranked twelfth in the NCAA in assists per set, with a 10.94 each set. Second in the MVC.
- This will be Murray's fifth meeting with Bradley (3-1) and the fourth with Illinois State (1-2). The Racers won their last meeting against both teams 3-1.
- Duru Ozkan debuted as a Racer on Tuesday night against Belmont, posting a service ace to force a deuce and help the Racers win the second set.
- Ella Vogel made a block solo and three block assists in Tuesday night's game.
- Dahlia Miller is ranked eleventh in the NCAA in digs per set, averaging 5.34 in each set.
- Lily Burnett was named MVC Freshman of the Week after her ten blocks and 15 kills performance at Racer Arena last weekend.
