Pauly And Melvin Shine At Vanderbilt Invitational

Senior Jenna Pauly and junior Chelby Melvin each set program records with wins in their events.
The Murray State women's track and field team continue to show improvement in competition with their second-consecutive meet with at least 10 personal records being broken at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville on Friday and Saturday.
Jenna Pauly was the star of the show during Friday's events, taking home the first-place finish in the women's pentathlon. She totaled a score of 3800, breaking the school record that was previously set by Val Lemoignan in 1985 (3771).
The McHenry, Illinois native finished in the top five in three of the five events and set personal bests in two of them (shot put, 60-meter hurdles).
Chelby Melvin was the winner of Saturday's 400-meter dash with a time of 54.44. She set her own personal record in the event as well as turning in the third-fastest time in program history. The native of St. Louis, Missouri dominated her heat by more than two seconds and beat out the event's runner-up by 0.12 seconds.
The Racers showed team dominance during the weekend's competition with a win in the distance medley relay on Friday. Murray State's A-team that comprised of Kayla Bell, Anouk Krause-Jentsch, Chelby Melvin and Amirr Evans ended the relay with a time of 12:12.51, beating out Jacksonville State's A-team by just over six seconds.
Including Pauly's and Melvin's record performances, 19 total personal bests were made over the weekend.
