Melvin, Pauly Receive Missouri Valley Track & Field Athlete Of The Week Honors

For the second-straight week, Murray State sweeps the MVC women’s track and field weekly honors.
Senior Jenna Pauly and sophomore Chelby Melvin were named the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the conference office announced Thursday morning.
The Racers swept the women's weekly honors for the second consecutive week. Kayla Bell and Meghan Fletcher were named MVC's Athletes of the Week the previous week.
Pauly was the winner of the women's pentathlon at the Vanderbilt Invitational, finishing with a score of 3800. She set a new school record and leads The Valley, is second in the Southeast Region and has the 11th-best score in the country.
The McHenry, Illinois native set personal bests in the shot put and the 60-meter hurdle and saw top-five finishes in three of the five events.
Melvin set a new personal best with a first-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Her time of 54.44 is atop the conference standings, fifth in the Southeast and among the top 35 in the country. The native of St. Louis, Missouri also recorded the third-fastest time in indoor program history.
