Racers Women’s Basketball Team remains unbeaten at home with win over Illinois State.
In A Nutshell
The Murray State Women's Basketball Team grabs third conference win with a 90-55 win over Illinois State, Saturday. The Racers extends their winning streak to eight with the win and remains unbeaten at home (6-0).
The game started with a back and forth battle that ended in a 17-15 first quarter. MSU switched up a gear in the second quarter by outscoring the Redbirds 31-4 to take the 48-19 advantage in the halftime break.
The Racers remain dominant in the third (21-19) and fourth (21-17) quarters to clinch the game.
Sweet Payback
The Racers took back their season-ending loss to Illinois State at the Hoops in the Heartland last year. This is the Racers' second win over Redbirds and first in the 21st century. The 90-55 points margin is the biggest in history between the two teams.
Racers Roll
The Racers nab their ninth-consecutive win and their eighth 90-plus point performance of the season. They stay second in the nation in scoring offense with 93.9 points per game.
Pena and White from Three
Briley Pena led the Racers in points with 19 followed by Trinity White with 18. Pena shot five for eight from three-point range while White shot four for six.
White posted her Racers career-high in points.
What's Next?
Murray State will be on the road until the end of the month starting with a trip to Indiana State, Thursday.
