Murray State women's basketball was picked fourth in the Missouri Valley preseason poll
Murray State women's basketball was picked to finish the 2024-25 season fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll as voted on by coaches, media members, and sports information directors around the league. In addition, Katelyn Young was named preseason All-MVC First Team after becoming the program's all-time leading scorer a season ago.Â
MSU finished the 2023-24 season 20-12 with a birth to the WNIT. The Racers return all-conference performers in Young, Ava Learn, and Haven Ford as Head Coach Rechelle Turner is in her eighth season at the helm after reaching 100 career wins a season ago.
Young returns to the Racers for one final season already ranking first on the all-time scoring list, third on the all-time rebound list, and fourth on the all-time blocks list. Young joined Murray State men's basketball legend Popeye Jones as the only two MSU student-athletes to reach 2000 career points and 1000 career rebounds. Young is a four-time all-conference performer, winning Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2021-22 in the Racers last season in the league.Â
MSU gets the 2024-25 season underway with an exhibition against Bethel (Tenn.) on October 30Â before beginning the official campaign on November 7 versus SIUE at the CFSB center.Â
