Racers Fall To Panthers In Cedar Falls
10/24/2024 6:23:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Junior Mary Hardy scored her sixth goal of the season.
The Racers dropped Thursday's match to the Northern Iowa Panthers, 3-1, at the UNI Soccer Field in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Nearly 70 minutes into play of a goalless match, a weather delay went into effect for approximately 30 minutes due to lightning in the vicinity. Just three minutes after returning from the weather break, the Racers would take the lead on Mary Hardy's team-leading sixth goal of the year.
Morgan Parker found Hardy in the box on a cross from the left side, after receiving a touch from Natalie Miller on a throw in. Parker recorded her first assist of the year and second as a Racer.
In the 83rd minute the Panthers drew a foul in their penalty box, leading to UNI's Lauren Heinsch scoring her eighth goal of the year. Just three minutes later the Panthers were set up for a free kick from outside the box, and UNI's Denise Camarena delivered a grounder to Ella Anliker to take the advantage.
With less than a minute left in the match, the Panthers would get a brace from Maddie Eastus for her sixth goal this year.
Murray State closes out the regular season with the Drake Bulldogs on Sunday, October 27 at 12 p.m. CT at Mediacom Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
