Racers Travel for Pair of MVC Contests

The Murray State Racers (10-8, 5-4 MVC) will travel to face the Missouri State Bears (8-13, 2-7 MVC) and the SIU Salukis (10-10, 3-6 MVC) in a pair of road MVC Contests.Â
Following a four-set win over UIC, the Racers are currently fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference standings. Meanwhile the Salukis are sitting eighth and the Bears tenth. Â
ÂThe Racers continue to be among the most efficient teams in the MVC with a .203 hitting percentage while holding opponents to a .199 percentage and averaging 12.86 kills per set. Â
ÂSeveral Racers continue to be among the top statistical performers in the MVC. Bailey DeMier is second in the conference in assists per set with an average of 9.58 and a total of 709. Ella Vogel is third in both kills and total points, averaging 4.04 kills per set and totaling 295 kills and 333.5 points. Dahlia Miller is third in digs with an average of 5.23 per set and 387 on the season. Â
ÂMissouri State is returning home after a road trip to Indiana that saw them fall in four sets to Indiana State and defeat Evansville in four. The Bears have been one of the more efficient hitting team in the MVC this season, hitting at a .209 clip. However, they have struggled defensively, with opponents also hitting .209 against them and being near the bottom of the conference in blocks with just 1.58 per set.Â
ÂAniya Joseph leads the Bears in kills per set with an average of 3.60 per set and 191 on the season while Rilynn Finley leads the team in total kills with 217 and Maddy Bushnell adds 194. Morgan Sprauge averages 9.03 assists per set with 713 on the season, good for third in the MVC and Kate Owen leads the team with 323 digs on the year.Â
ÂSouthern Illinois also split its road contests in Indiana last weekend, losing to Evansville 3-2 and defeating Indiana State by the same score. The Salukis have struggled offensively, sitting tenth in the MVC in points and kills while hitting at a .192 clip. Â
ÂAnnabelle Sulish and Kelly Franklin lead the team in kills with 238 and 213 on the season. Ema Stermenska and Anna Jaworski are the primary setters and have recorded 410 and 404 assists on the season. Outside Hitter Cecelia Bulmahn leads the team with 323 digs.
