Game Day Story Lines
- It's game-6 of the season for the Murray State Racers when they hit the road for Terre Haute and a Saturday 1 p.m. kick off against the Indiana State Sycamores.
- The Racers are playing their 100th season in 2024.
- Murray State is 0-2 in the MVFC after a road loss at (8) North Dakota 72-35 (Sept. 28) and a home defeat to (4) South Dakota last Saturday 59-0.
- The game marks the second for the Racers against the Sycamores in the Missouri Valley Football Conference after MSU won the first meeting in 2023 by a score of 30-28, which was their inaugural game in the league.
- Today's game marks MSU's first at Memorial Stadium since 2006, which was a 59-40 victory under Coach Matt Griffin.
- MSU is 5-5 all-time against Indiana State and are 3-3 all-time at Memorial Stadium.
- MSU's last defeat at Memorial Stadium was in 2004 under Coach Joe Pannunzio by a 28-21 final.
- Murray State is 0-2 in the MVFC after a road loss at (8) North Dakota 72-35 (Sept. 28) and a home defeat to (4) South Dakota last Saturday 59-0.
- The defeat saw the Racers limited to 213 total yards (90 yards rushing & 123 yards passing) and averaged 5.9 yards per play.
- Senior Jamari Dailey grabbed his first career interception as he also added a tackle for loss.
- The Racers' defense had five tackles for loss against South Dakota, but gave up an average of 8.4 yards per play on 582 total yards.
- Through two games, the Racers are ranked eighth in scoring offense in the MVFC at 17.5ppg (South Dakota is 1st at 50.2ppg) and MSU is 11th in defensive scoring in giving 65.5ppg (South Dakota State is 1st at 3.0ppg).
- The 2024 schedule may be the most difficult MSU has ever faced as the season could produce eight opponents in 12 games that will be or were ranked nationally when they met the Racers.
- MSU also faced the Missouri Tigers in the season opener when they were No. 11 in the Associated Press Top-25. MSU also faces the Kentucky Wildcats (Nov. 16) who moved into those getting votes after winning at Ole Miss Saturday.
- Next week (Oct. 19) marks the 88th homecoming game at Murray State, when the Racers host the Illinois State Redbirds in a 2 p.m. kick off.
- The game marks the Redbirds' first visit to Murray since 2008.
