Young Included in 2024-25 Becky Hammon Mid Major Player of the Year Watchlist

Murray State's Katelyn Young has once again found her name included in the watchlist for the 2024-25 season
Murray State women's basketball player Katelyn Young was included in the Her Hoop Stats 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Watchlist as announced on Wednesday morning. The list includes 25 players from mid-major programs nationally.
The Oakwood, Illinois was included in the list for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons. Last season, Young became the program's all-time leading scorer while also becoming the second Racer student-athlete to pick up 2000 points and 1000 rebounds (Popeye Jones).Â
The graduate student was previously named to the Preseason Missouri Valley Conference First Team. In 2023-24, Young ranked 28th nationally with 19.5 points per game while also grabbing 7.9 rebounds.
The Racers get their season started on October 30 with an exhibition against Bethel (Tenn.) before taking on SIUE on November 7 to officially get underway at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.
