Young, Learn, Ford Earn All-MVC Honors

Katelyn Young earns her second All-MVC First Team award while Ava Learn and Haven Ford were named in the MVC All-Newcomer and All-Freshman Teams.
Three Murray State women's basketball players earn post-season awards as announced by the Missouri Valley Conference, today. Katelyn Young earned her second All-MVC First Team honors, Ava Learn is included in the MVC All-Newcomer Team, while Haven Ford has been named MVC All-Freshman team.

Young earned her honors after leading the MVC in scoring with 19.69 points per game while being fifth in the conference in rebounds with eight rebounds per game.

The Oakwood, Illinois native has 10 double-doubles this season. She has 2,258 career points and is 30 points away from becoming the Racers' all-time leader in points. Sheila Smith currently holds the all-time scoring record with 2,287 points.

Ava Learn finished the regular season as the third-most efficient shooter in the conference (53.59%). She is the second highest scorer for the Racers with 10.86 points per game while averaging 5.45 rebounds per game.

The Purdue transfer posted two double-doubles this season. She made her first career double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds at Southern Indiana before posting her second double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds at UIC.

Haven Ford got included in the MVC All-Freshman team after closing the season averaging 10.38 points per game. She also averaged 4.38 rebounds per game while making a total of 92 assists.

The Morehead, Kentucky native had her first double-double at Bradley when she posted 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Young, Learn and Ford join the Racers as they take on their second Hoops in the Heartland as the sixth seed. The Racers will face 11th seed Bradley.
