Murray State Takes Series Opener Over Little Rock

The Racers take Game 1 from the Trojans in a defensive battle Friday night.
The Racers took the series opener over the Little Rock Trojans, 3-1, at Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky on Friday. With the win, Murray State extended its home winning streak to nine games.
Drew Vogel put the Racers on the board in the first inning with a leadoff home run, his fifth of the season. MSU would score its next two runs thanks to Taylor Howell driving in an RBI in the fourth on a fielder's choice and another on a sacrifice fly in the sixth.
Little Rock attempted to come back in the seventh scoring their lone run on an RBI single, but Cade Vernon closed the door by leaving a pair of runners stranded to end the inning.
Vernon earned his third win of the season after throwing seven innings, allowing just four hits and one run and striking out six batters. Nathan Holler picked up his second save of the year after coming out of the pen in the ninth, retiring all three batters faced and recording a strikeout.
Murray State aims to take a series win over the Trojans on Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. CT at Reagan Field.
