Racers End Season in the Second Round of the WNIT

Murray State women’s basketball falls at Southern Mississippi in overtime.

Murray State women's basketball falls 67-78 at Southern Mississippi in the second round of the second round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament, Saturday.

The Racers earned a spot in the postseason tournament after ending the 2023-24 regular and conference season with a  20-11 record.

Katelyn Young became the Racers' all-time scoring leader after leading the Racers with 26 points, today. Young broke the 35-year-old record with the first shot of the night. She now has 2312 career points breaking the previous record (2287 points) held by Racer Hall-of-Famer Sheila Smith.

Young also made her 1000th career rebound milestone as she made 11 rebounds to make it 1004 career rebounds for the Oakwood, Illinois native.

She is the only Racer to have made 2000-plus points and 1000-plus rebounds in the Murray State Women's Basketball history. Only the second in Racers basketball history after Racer Hall-of-Famer Popeye Jones.

The 2023-24 Season
The Racers ended their season with a 20-12 record. The sixth time in program history that they finished with 20-plus wins and earning their seventh postseason appearance.

MSU finished their second Missouri Valley Conference campaign with a 11-7 conference regular season record while falling in the quarterfinal round of the Hoops in the Heartland.
