Finishing his master’s degree in Business Administration from Murray State University, the Racer senior is in the MVC spotlight for academic success
Murray State's Quincy Anderson was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Scholar First Team Monday as announced by the league office in St. Louis, Mo.
Anderson joined the Murray State men's basketball program in 2022 and has been working towards an MBA from Murray State University, after his transfer to the Racers from Minnesota State-Mankato where he attended and played at from 2018-22. From Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Anderson earned his under-graduate degree in Sports management at Minnesota State before coming to Murray State to pursue the next step in his education.
On the floor, Anderson has scored 497 points in 2023-24 for the Racers with a scoring average of 12.8 points per game.
In December, he scored his Murray State career-high of 27 points at Illinois State (Dec. 3). He ended the regular season Sunday with 25 points at Indiana State.
The criteria for the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team voting parallels the CSC (College Sports Communicators) standards for Academic All-America nominations. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students. An undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and a graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
Anderson joins his teammates in St. Louis this week for State Farm Arch Madness. The Racers are set for a first round game against the Missouri State Bears on Thursday at 12 p.m. at Enterprise Center.
