Murray State softball sweep day one at UNA Tournament with wins over Southern Mississippi and Samford, Friday.

The Racers has an 11-12 record with two more non-conference games.

Vs. Southern Mississippi
The Racers left it late as they score two runs through errors in the eighth inning to edge the Golden Eagles 0-2.

Jenna Veber threw her third shutout and seventh complete game of the season. She only allowed six hits and a walk while posting five strikeouts through 30 batters faced.

Vs. Samford
Kayleigh White threw her first complete game for the Racers while earning her second pitcher win of the season.

The Racers got on the board early as leadoff hitter Lily Fischer hits to right center to get on second base before Taylor Jackson runs brought her home with an RBI single through middle. The Bulldogs tied it in the top of the third inning but the Racers took back the lead in bottom of the fourth inning with an single RBI bunt by Adison Hicks.

Murray State extends the lead to three trough Hicks' and Bailey Broemmer's RBIs in the bottom of the sixth inning. They clinched the game with a one-two-three out in the top of the seventh inning.

Murray State will play Detroit Mercy and North Alabama to wrap up non-conference play, tomorrow.
