Murray State scored six runs in the last three frames to extend its winning streak to four games.

The Racers defeated the Lindenwood Lions, 8-7, for a Senior Day come-from-behind victory on Saturday at Reagan Field in Murray, Kentucky.

Carson Garner continued his hot start to the season by hitting his ninth home run of the season in the first inning to give the Racers the early 2-0 lead. The Lions put a run on the board in the top of the second on a bunt single.

After the third and fourth innings were scoreless, Lindenwood jumped ahead with a five-run frame in the fifth on an error, bases-loaded walk and an RBI single followed up by a two-RBI single. Murray State started to draw closer after Logan Bland scored a run on a wild pitch.

The Lions extended their lead to four in the top of the seventh on an RBI double, but MSU continued to claw back into the game after Dan Tauken entered the game as a pinch hitter and smashed a two-run homer on the first pitch he saw to make it a 7-5 ball game.

Dustin Mercer kept the Racers' rally going in the eighth with a leadoff homer to make it a one-run game. Murray State capped off the inning on a pair of RBI doubles from Garner and Tauken to put the Racers back on top.

In the ninth Lindenwood put the tying run on third and the go-ahead run on first after a walk, hit-by-pitch and an advance on a flyout, but Jacob Pennington closed the door on a strikeout swinging to secure the victory and clinch the series win for MSU.

Pennington earned the win after throwing 4 2/3 innings out of the bullpen, allowing just one run on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Garner and Tauken were the only two Racers with multi-hit games, but seven Racers contributed to the scoring efforts with at least one run scored. Garner also extended his hitting streak to six games and Mercer extended his to four.

The Racers play in the series finale with Lindenwood on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. at Reagan Field.
