Murray State pulled off another come-from-behind victory, scoring 11 runs in the final two innings.
After the series finale started off with scoreless first and second innings, Lindenwood struck first with two runs in the third on an RBI triple and a sacrifice bunt. The Racers answered back with two runs on their own on a two-run homer from Drew Vogel.
The back-and-forth between the Lions and Murray State continued in the fourth, with Lindenwood scoring a run on a throwing error and the Racers responding on an RBI single from Parker Estes.
Entering the seventh inning with a 3-3 score, Lindenwood exploded for five runs on a two-RBI base hit followed by a three-run homer. MSU continued their counter by scoring six runs in the bottom of the frame to take their first lead of the game.
Dan Tauken and Estes started the seventh with back-to-back base hits before Logan Bland drew a walk to load the bases for Vogel, who ripped a base hit on the second pitch of the at-bat to score Tauken. Dustin Mercer drove in the second run of the inning on a groundout and Jonathan Hogart made it a two-run game with a sacrifice fly to left field.
Vogel came in to score after the Lindenwood pitcher threw a wild pitch to bring the deficit to one. Carson Garner made his way to third base with two outs after drawing a walk and advancing on consecutive wild pitches. Riley Hawthorne drew a walk of his own and Taylor Howell gave the Racers the lead on a two-RBI double down the left field line.
Murray State added insurance in the eighth with a five-spot in the inning. Logan Bland started the scoring with an RBI triple to center field after the outfielder missed a diving attempt to catch the ball. Vogel then drove in his fourth RBI of the day on a base hit to the left-center gap and advanced to third on a base hit from Mercer.
Hogart put another run on the board with his second sacrifice fly of the day before Hawthorne and Ethan Krizen contributed RBIs on a base hit and a ground out make it 14-8.
Nathan Holler earned his first win of the season after tossing 2 1/3 innings in relief, allowing one run on four hits with two strikeouts. Five different Racers recorded multi-hit games led by Vogel who went 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBIs.
Bland, Estes, Tauken, Garner and Vogel combined for 12 of the team's 14 runs on Sunday.
The Racers hit the road to face the Kentucky Wildcats for a midweek clash in Lexington, Kentucky on Tuesday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
