Miller joins a group of 51 Murray State student-athletes at Saturday’s graduation
As Murray State University prepares to stage spring commencement Saturday at the CFSB Center, Murray State Athletics is proud to announce the Racers'
spring graduates and one major honor for Dahlia Miller of MSU Volleyball.
Â
Miller, from Pearland, Texas, will give remarks at Saturday's event after being selected as one of three students as 2024 Outstanding Senior.
Â
"I was very honored to find out that I got it, but it definitely took me by surprise," said Miller, who was a guest this week on the Racer Report Podcast. "I definitely want to tell my story of how I came to be part of Murray State. I'm from Texas, so this was a very big change for me. I came from the big city to a small town. I also want to talk about my experiences as a student-athlete and how Murray State shaped me. I've learned so many things at Murray State. I learned humility, diligence and how a team works. I've learned to be a better teammate and I try to be a better person for everybody who I come across. I think that there's so many life lessons in both sports and in your academics that you can take into the real world."
Â
All Murray State student-athletes and coaches make up a close-knit family within their sport. That is certainly the case for Miller, who still has one more season to play for the Racers and head coach Dave Schwepker.
Â
"Coach Schwepker is top notch and I owe so much to him," Miller said. "I was a late recruit. I didn't get recruited until April of my senior year. It was during COVID and Coach Schwepker was at a tournament that I was playing in, but he was looking for recruits from the class of 2021. He ended up walking by my court and he randomly saw me."
Â
Dahlia Miller, the daughter of Jermaine and Maysoon Miller, earn a degree in Finance/Financial Planning.
