The Murray State women's soccer team is slated to take on former-OVC foe, the Southeast Missouri Redhawks, on Sunday, August 18 at 6 p.m. CT at Houck Field in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
The Racers are coming off a season-opening loss on the road at Cincinnati, but look to build off momentum after shutting out the Bearcats in the final 45 minutes of the match and scoring their first goal of the season in the 81st minute.
Murray State leads the all-time series 14-13-1 and are unbeaten in eight of the last 10 matchups with SEMO, however the Redhawks have won two of the last three matches, including a 2-0 victory over the Racers in 2023.
Scouting Report
The Redhawks enter Sunday's contest led by head coach Heather Nelson, who has led SEMO's program since its inception in 1999. Nelson has compiled 19 winning seasons and over 220 career wins in the last 25 years.
Sunday's match marks SEMO's 2024 season opener due to their original season opener being postponed.
Southeast Missouri returns its top two scorers from 2023 in Cayla Koerner and Emily Baker, who both matched four goals each last season. Koerner also led the Redhawks with four assists and 12 total points.
SEMO's roster also beholds Zoe Houston and Alayna Jakul, who were two of six Redhawks to start in all 19 matches in 2023.
