Game Storylines
- The Murray State Racers take on the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils on MSU Family Weekend Saturday in a 6 p.m. kick at Roy Stewart Stadium.
- New head coach Jody Wright and the Racers are looking for their first win in 2024.
- The Racers are 170-105-2 all-time at Stewart Stadium.
- Saturday marks the third meeting between the Racers and MVSU with Murray State claiming shutout wins in Itta Bena in 2011 (39-0) and in Murray in 2021 (35-0).
- MVSU is also looking for their first win of 2024 after road losses at Tennessee State (21-14) and Lamar (28-14).
- The Saturday tilt is the second of six home games for the Racers at Stewart Stadium.
- The Racers have had some of their largest crowds in Stewart Stadium history during the annual Family Weekend celebration, including the 13,213 that watched the Racers win their first game in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (Sept. 30, 2023) over Indiana State by a score of 30-28.
- MSU also had 11,921 watch the Racers defeat Morehead State 59-7 in 2019.
- From the Butler game last Saturday, the Racers stacked up three sacks in the game by Detoye Adewole, KaVan Reed, and Davon Martin.
- Murray State picked up nine tackles-for-loss in the game, the most since 2022 when the Racers had nine against Robert Morris.
- Tyson Meiguez now leads the Racers with 18 tackles on the year with 10 solo stops, he is third in total tackles in the MVFC.
- With his 51-yard field goal last week against Butler, James London now holds two of the 20 longest field goals in MSU history (53-yds vs. North Dakota State in 2023).
- London is the seventh MSU kicker in program history to have multiple 50-yard field goals, with three former Racers leading the way each with four in their careers including Jeff Lancaster (1980-83), Paul Hickert (1985-86), Greg Duncan (1988-89).
- Former Murray State Basketball star, Justice Hill, caught his first two passes as a member of the MSU football team in the Butler game. Hill last played hoops for the Racers on the 2021-22 team that won 31 games, went undefeated in OVC play and won the program's fifth game in the NCAA Tournament.
- The Racers have a re-built roster with 65 players who were playing someplace else a season ago.
- MSU has 46 transfer players in 2024. 26 of which are from FBS or FCS programs.
