Final Results

The Murray State women’s Cross Country squad came home with a third place showing at the UTM event

The Murray State Women's Cross Country team competed at the UT Martin OVC Preview Saturday at Graham Park in Union City Tennessee.

The Racer women placed third with Liz Smith, racing in just her second event at MSU as a freshman, taking a third-place finish in the 6K distance with a time of 21:53, while Autumn Egleston gave the Racers two in the top-15.

"This was a good meet to have the team run their first full race distance at 6K. There was enough competition for people to have someone to run with but wasn't overly crowded and difficult to find a position. Liz Smith ran the fourth-fastest time in school history and I know this is only the beginning for her. She likes to start races fast to put herself in the mix early and I believe she held on pretty well for her first 6k, but moving forward we will make some adjustments to her strategy in the hopes of having a stronger middle portion of the race. Alyssa Moore really stepped up since our season opener and had a fantastic second half of the race. Her and Kaydee Wooldridge hopefully gained a lot of confidence after today. Hope Ware has been grinding for the last several years since a devastating injury as a freshman. She's starting to see the results from all of her patience and hard work and I am so happy for her."
