Mary Hardy netted a pair of second-half goals to give Murray State its third win in the last four matches.
The Racers closed out the non-conference portion of their season with a 2-0 road victory on Sunday over the Grambling State Lady Tigers at the GSU Soccer Complex in Grambling, Louisiana.
"I thought it was a very good performance against an athletic Grambling side," head coach Matt Lodge said. "[In] the first half we knocked the ball around really well, but lacked a little end product. Credit to the girls, they stayed calm at 0-0 going into the second half—continued to play good football and got their reward!"
Murray State outshot Grambling 4-2 through a scoreless first half, yet both programs matched each other in saves, corners and fouls through 45 minutes of play.
With just over seven minutes into the second half, Kate Stordy serviced an assist on a corner kick that turned into a Mary Hardy header for her third goal of the season. 23 minutes later in the 76th minute, Hardy would fire her second goal on a cross from Chloe Barnthouse on the attacking right side. Barnthouse received her pass from a free running Hailey Cole down the sideline at the midfield line, giving Cole a second assist on Hardy's second goal.
With her two goals scored, Hardy recorded her second multi-goal match this season as well as the second of her collegiate career. Griselda Revolorio notched her second clean sheet of the season, having to only knock away four saves on six shots faced.
20 Racers saw the pitch on Sunday with at least 10 minutes played by each player. Stordy extends her streak of playing full time in a match to 11-straight and Morgan Bodker pushes her streak to 10 matches.
"After Friday's game was canceled, we had 10 days between games," Lodge added. "To show up and play well after that long layoff, I'm very proud of them."
The Racers now turn their attention to opening Missouri Valley Conference play at Evansville on Sunday, September 22. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
"We are in a great spot as we head into MVC play in a week."
