Racers Open Conference Play With Road Match Against Evansville

Murray State is unbeaten against the Purple Aces in its last four matches.

The Racers kick off the Missouri Valley Conference portion of their schedule when they travel to Evansville, Indiana to take on the Evansville Purple Aces on Sunday, September 22 at 1 p.m. CT at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
Murray State enters the match coming off a road victory at Grambling State and have won three of their last four matches. Junior Mary Hardy currently leads the team with four goals this season, with all four goals occurring in two of her last three appearances.
Along with Hardy, five other Racers have scored at least two goals this season. The Racers' goal count thus far in 2024 sits at 16, already just two goals shy of tying MSU's team total of 18 scored in 2023.
With head coach Matt Lodge sitting at 59 career wins as a head coach, he is just one win shy of tying the program's head coaching wins record that was set by Beth Acreman's 60 wins from 2006 to 2013.
Evansville enters Sunday's match with a 1-4-2 record, having already opened up conference play with a 1-0 loss to Belmont in Nashville, Tennessee. The Purple Aces are led by head coach Chris Pfau, who is in his eighth season at the helm of Evansville's women's soccer program and his fifth season in his second tenure.
Pfau is in his 17th season as a head coach and as accumulated a career record of 92-139-50. His first stint with the Purple Aces began in 2005, where he accrued a 30-22-4 record in his first three seasons. After departing for head coaching roles with Akron and Houston for eight years, he returned to Evansville in 2020 and has since held a record of 13-28-26.
The Aces are led by Chrysta Vasquez and Kaylee Woolsey. Both players lead the team with four points apiece, with Vasquez being the only player on Evansville's roster to have scored multiple goals this season. Woolsey has scored one goal and has recorded two of Evansville's five assists.
