Breece Bass led Murray State with five of the team’s 15 shots.
The Racers kicked off Missouri Valley Conference play to a scoreless draw with the Evansville Purple Aces on Sunday at Arad McCutchan Stadium in Evansville, Indiana. After earning a point in the MVC standings, the Racers are one of seven programs to start conference play with an unbeaten record.
"Credit to Evansville today," head coach Matt Lodge said. "I thought they played very well and took us out of our usual game. In league play, you have to value every point and today we got a point on the road."
The Racers outshot the Purple Aces with 15 shots to Evansville's 13, as well as placing six of those shots in frame to UE's two. Breece Bass took a game-high five shots with two on goal. Morgan Bodker, Natalie Miller and Megan Wilson each took two shots and eight total Racers took at least one shot in Sunday's contest.
With Sunday's shutout, Griselda Revolorio now has three clean sheets this season and nine for her career. With her ninth career shutout, Revolorio is now tied for the third-most clean sheets in program history in just 22 career starts.
Murray State returns home to Cutchin Field for its Missouri Valley home opener with the UIC Flames on Thursday, September 26 at 3 p.m. CT.
"We have a quick turnaround, and we host a well-rested UIC team Thursday," Lodge added. "We are excited to be back home and this will be our first two-game weekend this month, so we are eager to get back in the groove."
