Volleyball To Close Weekend at Bradley

ÂMurray State Volleyball (6-4, 1-0 MVC) will face the Bradley Braves (6-7, 1-0 MVC) in Peoria, Ill. on Saturday. Â
ÂBoth squads are coming off of wins in their respective Missouri Valley Conference openers on Friday, with the Racers taking a 3-1 win over Illinois State and the Braves defeating Belmont 3-2. Â
ÂThe Racers are now winners in six of their last seven and are bolstered by a strong pair of outside hitters in Ella Vogel and Darci Metzger. Vogel leads the team in kills with 165 and her average of 4.34 per set is second-best in the MVC. Bailey DeMier leads the MVC in assists per set with an average of 9.97 and Dahlia Miller leads the team in digs per set at 5.05, fourth best in the MVC. Â
ÂDarci Metzger is on the watch list for the 1000 Kills Club with a career total of 969. She would be the 15th Racer to reach the career milestone. Â
ÂThe Navy & Gold are among the most efficient teams in the MVC with their hitting percentage of .224 being second best in the conference.
ÂIn their win over Belmont, the Braves were led by Iva Popovic with 25 kills and 18 digs. Corrie Brown led the team with 28 assists and Irene Mostardini added 23 digs. Brown is currently second in the MVC in service aces with 20 on the season and an average of 0.44 per set. Â
ÂThe Racers return home next weekend to face Indiana State on Friday, October 4 at 6 p.m. CT and Evansville on Saturday, October 5 at 6 p.m. CT. Â
