Rifle Fires 4720 in 2025 Opener

Murray State fell to Georgia Southern 4728-4720.
The Murray State Racers recorded scores of 2346 in small bore and 2374 in air rifle for an aggregate of 4720 on Saturday morning in Murray, Ky.
The Racers came up just short against Georgia Southern, as the Eagles came out on top with an aggregate of 4728.
Carlotta Salafia was the top shooter for the Navy & Gold coming in third overall. The freshman placed second with a season-high 590 in smallbore and fired a 594 in air rifle. Â
ÂJohn Blanton placed fourth individually with an 1183 aggregate. Blanton led all shooters with a season-high 598 in air rifle and fired a 585 in smallbore, good for seventh.Â
Â"We came back here a week early and spent a lot of time on the range," said Blanton. "I think that assisted everybody a lot to be able to come back and shoot good…everything we can win we want to win."
ÂPaola Paravati was the only other Racer to appear in the top ten, placing seventh with an 1175 aggregate. The Rome, Italy native recorded scores of 584 and 591 in smallbore and air rifle.Â
Â"We seem to be picking up right where we left off," said head coach Allen Lollar. "" We've got some thing we need to clean up before next week but I think were in a pretty good spot."
