Racers Fall To Belmont – Wood Joins MSU 1000-Point Club

The Racers had an early lead, but could sustain it in their fourth loss of the season at the CFSB Center
The Murray State Racers dropped a 95-77 defeat Saturday to the Belmont Bruins at the CFSB Center in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers (11-10) are at the halfway point of the 20-game season in the Missouri Valley Conference at 5-5.
MSU hits the road next week for games Wednesday at Evansville (Jan. 29) and at Missouri State (Feb. 1), before returning to the CFSB Center to host Drake (Feb. 4).
JaCobi Wood led the Racers with 19 points, while Terence Harcum added 14, Nick Ellington 13 and Kylen Milton 10 as the Racers shot 50 percent for the game (29-of-58), but couldn't slow the Bruins down who shot 51 percent (32-of-63).
In the first half, the Racers used a streak of six-straight shots made to take an 18-14 lead at 13:00 on a Harcum 3-pointer. However, the Bruins answered with a 17-4 run for a 31-22 lead at 8:30 and extended their advantage to 55-37 at the intermission.
The Racers never got any closer than 14 points when the score was 84-69 with 5:29 left when Wood hit a 3-pointer.
