Bell Earns Second MVC Indoor Track Weekly Award
1/28/2025 3:25:00 PM | Women's Track and Field
Kayla Bell is having a tremendous indoor season with the 10th best 400M time in NCAA D-I
Murray State's Kayla Bell was named Co-Missouri Valley Conference Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office in St. Louis on Tuesday.
Two weeks ago, she was named to the same award after she broke her own MSU record for the 800M event and last weekend at the Bob Teel Invitational in Columbia, Missouri, Bell produced the 10th best national time in the 400M Run. Bell's effort was the first time a student-athlete has significantly threatened the 1990 Murray State record by Stephanie Saleem.
Out of Lynwood, Illinois, Bell owns the MSU 800M record she set a year ago and last weekend at Mizzou, she joined teammates Chelby Melvin, Cheyanne Melvin and Simone Joseph in setting a new MSU record in the 4X400M Relay. And if that's not enough, Bell still had time to take second in the 200M Run.
Bell shared the MVC award with Rachel Mehringer of Indiana State.
The Racers' next event is back in Columbia for a second time at the Missouri Invitational (Feb. 7).
