Murray State women's basketball defeated George Mason 88-83 in day one of the Daytona Beach Classic
Murray St. overcame a five-point halftime deficit with a dominant third quarter to defeat George Mason 88-83 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida, on November 28, 2025. The victory in the Daytona Beach Classic improved the Racers' record to 4-2 on the season.
After leading 18-14 through the first quarter, the Racers struggled in the second, allowing George Mason to take a 38-33 advantage into the locker room. Murray St. flipped the momentum entirely in the third period, outscoring the Patriots 25-10 to build a 58-48 lead heading into the final frame. The fourth quarter turned into a high-scoring shootout, with George Mason pouring in 35 points, but the Racers answered with 30 of their own to preserve the win.
Murray St. was powered by a monster double-double from Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, who poured in 32 points on 9-of-14 shooting and pulled down 11 rebounds. She was also clutch from the free-throw line, hitting 14-of-16 attempts. Haven Ford also filled the stat sheet with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and a team-high 7 assists. Halli Poock added 19 points, while Keslyn Secrist was a force on the glass, grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds to go with her 11 points and 5 assists.
