Young Named Mid Major Player of the Year Semifinalist

Katelyn Young is one of 10 semifinalists for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year

Murray State women's basketball player Katelyn Young has been named a semifinalist for the 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year award by Her Hoop Stats. Young, the Racers all-time leading scorer, is averaging 20.4 points per game this season to lead the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Oakwood, Illinois native ranks inside the top 40 scorers in NCAA Division I women's basketball history and has surpassed 2,700 career points while also grabbing more than 1,100 career rebounds. Young picked up National Player of the Week honors from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on January 28 after averaging 29 points and eight rebounds in wins over Evansville and Indiana State.
