The Murray State Racers (2-2, 0-0 MVC) will play a pair of non-conference matchups on Friday, February 14, at the Skyhawk Invitational in Martin, Tennessee.Â
ÂThe Racers will start the day against the UT Martin Skyhawks (2-3, 0-0 OVC) at 1 p.m. CT and face the Western Michigan Broncos (1-4, 0-0 MAC) at 5:30 p.m. CT.Â
ÂThis will be the 39th all-time matchup between the Racers and Skyhawks. Murray State leads the all-time series 20-18. However, the Skyhawks came out on top in the most recent matchup, winning 8-3 on March 6, 2024. This will be the first meeting between Murray State and Western Michigan.Â
ÂMurray State is coming off of the season-opening South Alabama Invitational that saw the Racers capture a pair of wins over the Northwestern State Demons 2-1 and 10-2. They also suffered a close 2-3 loss to South Alabama and faced an offensive explosion from UAB, losing 1-9. Â
ÂSeveral Racers have had hot starts at the plate in 2025, including Ailey Schyck, who hit a pair of three-run bombs in their second contest against the Demons. She currently leads the team with a .429 batting average, .556 on-base percentage, 1.985 OPS, and 7 RBI. The Winter Park, Fla. native is currently tied for sixth in the nation with a 1.429 slugging percentage.  Â
ÂFreshman Kenley Minor leads the team in hits with four. She is batting .308 and added a double and triple last weekend. Erin Lackey and Bailey Broemmer are both batting .300 with three hits and an RBI each, while Lackey adds a pair of doubles.
ÂIn the circle, Raylee Roby picked up two wins on the weekend and finished with an ERA of 2.47. Â
ÂKyla Harley has been an early threat at the plate for the Skyhawks with a team-leading seven hits and batting average and on-base percentage of .438. Dylan Scott and Jordyn Hustey lead the team with three RBI each, and Avary Makarewicz has the Skyhawk's lone home run. Â
Ashtyn Green has been the leader in the circle thus far, with two wins in 12.1 innings pitched. She currently has a 1.70 ERA with 11 strikeouts. Rylee Tittle leads the team with a 0.95 ERA and a team-low four hits allowed across 7.1 innings.
ÂWestern Michigan's lone win was an 8-0 season-opening victory over Michigan State. Riley Dittmar leads the team with seven hits, four hits, and a .467 batting average. She is one of three Broncos with a home run this season. Tristen Head has been another consistent threat at the plate for the Broncos, batting .429 with six hits. Â
