Mistone, Vierling, Zentko Recognized With Pre-Season All-Conference Honors

Juniors Luke Mistone, Will Vierling and Dylan Zentko were named to the MVC preseason all-conference team, the league announced Monday. The Racers also placed third in the preseason poll, receiving one first place vote.

Mistone, a junior from Upland, Calif., was named MVC Player of the Week earlier this season after batting .520 after batting across four games between Feb. 25-Mar. 2. Mistone is currently second in the MVC with a .414 batting average. He has recorded 14 extra base hits this season.

Vierling, a junior from Mequon, Wis., was also named MVC Player of the Week after the first weekend of the season. Vierling launched three home runs in MSU's opening day doubleheader sweep against Western Illinois. He currently leads the Racers in on base percentage (.513) and home runs (6). Vierling's most recent home run as a 10th inning walk off solo home run on Mar 11 against Lindenwood.

Zentko, a junior from Brazil, Ind., leads Racers pitching with 22 strikeouts. Zentko has posted a 3.31 ERA in 16.1 innings pitched.

The Racers will open MVC play on Friday with a three-game series against Evansville at Johnny Reagan Field. The Racers face the Kentucky Wildcats tomorrow at 5:30 P.M. central time.
