
Racers Fall to Sycamores in Pitching Duel

The Murray State Racers (9-16, 1-5 MVC) fell to the Indiana State Sycamores (7-19, 2-1 MVC) 2-0 in the first game of a weekend series in Terre Haute, Ind. Friday afternoon
The Racers recorded one hit on the day, no errors, and left one runner stranded. Kenley Minor was responsible for the one hit, a fourth-inning single, and recorded the only stolen base of the day.Â
The Sycamores scored on a pair of solo home runs from Sophie Esposito and Hannah Welch. Esposito led the team at the plate with a triple to go with the solo homer. Â
Hailey Griffin (5-5) pitched a complete game for the Sycamores, allowing one hit, one walk, and recording seven strikeouts. Â
Bre Haislip (4-8) took the loss, giving up one run in one inning of work. Karlye Graber was a standout in relief, pitching five complete innings and allowing just one earned run and two hits while striking out eight, walking three, and hitting one batter.Â
Murray State will wrap up its series at Indiana State with a Saturday doubleheader. Game one is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET with the second game immediately following at 2:30 p.m. ET.
