Racer Classic to Feature Murray State, Cleveland State, Akron

The Racers will host the Vikings and the Zips for the final non-conference tournament of the season.
The Murray State Racers will host the Vikings of Cleveland State and the Akron Zips for the Racer Classic from March 7-8 in Murray, Kentucky.
The Racers (6-9) are coming off of a trip to Oxford, Miss. for the Ole Miss Classic that saw them pick up wins over South Alabama and Nicholls. Ailey Schyck had another productive weekend, adding three home runs to bring her season total to seven. She also totaled five RBI with a weekend batting average of .375. Â
Summer Ray and Erin Lackey added their first home runs of the season, with Lackey hitting a grand slam to open Sunday's contest against Nicholls. Freshman Karlye Graber picked up the first two wins of her career, over Nicholls and South Alabama.Â
Cleveland State (3-10) struggled to open the season, winning just one of their first ten games. However, the Vikings began to see success last weekend at the Scotsman Invitational in Clinton, S.C. picking up wins over Valparaiso and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Â
Brooke Albaugh has been a leader at the plate for the Vikings, batting .350 and 14 RBI. Sydney Shammo leads the team with six RBI and Haley West leads with two home runs. In the circle, the Vikings are led by Avery Robinson who features a 3.71 ERA and leads the team with two wins and 29 strikeouts.Â
Akron (10-9) picked up wins over UIC and Dayton last weekend at the Eastern Kentucky Tournament in Richmond, Ky. Lily Sullivan leads the team with a .355 batting average, 22 hits, and five doubles. Sydney Selker has been a solid hitter as well, batting .347 and leading the team with three home runs and 12 RBI. Â
Madie Jamrog has been the ace for the Zips this season with an ERA 1.97, a 4-1 record, and 23 strikeouts. Â
