Racers Unable to Overcome Redhawks in SEMO Invitational Finale

Murray State returns Thursday at Belmont.
The Murray State Racers (2-7) fell to the Southeast Missouri Redhawks (5-4) in straight sets on Saturday in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Â
ÂIn the final match of the SEMO Invitational, the Racers were unable to overcome the Redhawks' offensive attack, falling 25-19, 25-13, and 25-15.
The Racers finished the match with 24 kills on .076 hitting percentage, with five aces, three blocks, 23 assists, and 42 digs on the day. The Redhawks put up 37 kills with a .255 hitting percentage and recorded 10 aces, eight blocks, 35 assists, and 46 digs. Â
Lily Burnett, Federica Nuccio, and Ella Voel led the Racers with five kills each, while Vogel and Samantha Nelson each recorded a pair of aces. Halle Forester recorded nine digs to lead the team while Nelson added eight. Paige Brock led the way with 14 assists. Â
The Redhawks were led by Lucy Arndt with 12 kills and Megan Holder with 18 assists. Â
The Racers are back in action to open Missouri Valley Conference play on Thursday, September 25, at 6 p.m. CT against the Belmont Bruins in Nashville, Tenn. at the Curb Event Center. Â
