Racers Look to Reverse Fortunes in Nashville at MVC Opener

Following a bye week, the Murray State Racers start Missouri Valley Conference play on the Road against the Belmont Bruins. Â
The Racers (2-7) enter conference play having lost five straight at the end of their non-conference slate. Meanwhile, the Bruins boast the best record in the MVC at 9-2.
The Racers and Bruins met twice during the 2024 season, splitting the two matches, including a 3-2 Murray State victory on October 8 at Racer Arena. Â
The Racers are led offensively by Ella Vogel, fifth in the MVC with 3.63 kills per set. Vogel became the 16th member of the Raver Volleyball 1000 kill club during the Racers' opening weekend tournament in Clarksville, Tenn. A pair of Racer setters also rank near the top of the conference in assists per set. Katie Titus is third at 7.48 per set, and Paige Brock is fourth with 6.88. Morgan McClure leads the Racers with 20 total blocks, and Halle Forester leads the team with 82 digs. Â
The Bruins are led by Brooke Gilleland with 145 kills and Jordan Czajkowski with 226 assists. Defensively, Lucy Kay leads the team with 32 total blocks, while Lilly Lutz boasts 168 digs.Â
Following their match at Belmont, the Racers will return to Racer Arena for their 2025 home opener against Southern Illinois on Friday, September 26, at 6 p.m. CT.  Â
