Racers Edge UT Martin For First Road Victory

Martin, Tenn – The Racers took down the UT Martin Skyhawks with a 2-1 win in dramatic fashion, securing their first road victory of the season.
"It's always a hard place to come," Head Coach Matt Lodge said. "The rivalry is still alive from the OVC days."
The Racers (4-3-0) surrendered an 11th-minute goal and trailed 1-0 until senior Mary Hardy scored her first goal of the 2025 season with assists from Natalie Miller and Megan Wilson.
Throughout the match, Wilson consistently disrupted the Skyhawks' (0-3-3) attack, making way for Katie Donoghue to score the game-winning goal in the 81st minute, assisted by Breece Bass and Hardy.
In her first start of the season, Isa De Santos Gomez recorded three saves, holding off a UT Martin shot on goal in the 87th minute to secure the Racers' win over their former OVC foe.
Hardy's performance tied Bass' performance against Marshall for the most points in a single match this season.
"To score two goals again," Lodge said, "that's back-to-back games now where we've got multiple goals, so starting to get our offense going at the right time as we head into conference play."
The Racers continue their road stretch, taking on Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn., on Sunday, Sept. 7.
