Racers Mount Fourth Quarter Comeback in Des Moines

Murray State overcame a double digit fourth quarter deficit to defeat Drake on the road
Halli Poock scored 26 points, including a game-winner with 2.9 seconds remaining to lead Murray State to a thrilling 89-88 victory over Drake at the Knapp Center on Jan. 25. The Racers (17-3, 8-1 MVC) overcame an 11 point deficit entering the fourth quarter to secure the narrow road win and complete the season sweep of Drake.
Murray State controlled much of the first half, leading 44-41 at the break. However, Drake roared back in the third quarter, outscoring the Racers 31-17 to take a double-digit lead. The Racers responded with a dominant fourth-quarter performance, putting up 28 points to reclaim the lead.
Sharnecce Currie-Jelks was a force in the paint, finishing with 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting while grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. Haven Ford added 17 points, and Poock facilitated the offense with six assists to go along with her game-high scoring total. Keslyn Secrist scored two key baskets down the stretch on the back of two offensive rebounds.
Murray State shot efficiently from the free throw line, going 25-for-29 including a combined 14-for-14 from Currie-Jelks and Secrist.
