Murray State women's basketball heads to Nashville to take on Belmont on Saturday
First place in the Missouri Valley Conference will be on the line Saturday afternoon when the Murray State Racers visit the Belmont Bruins at the Curb Event Center.
The Racers enter the contest on a roll, having won 16 of their last 17 games to sit at 18-3 overall and 9-1 in conference play. Junior guard Halli Poock, who leads the team with over 20 points per game, spearheaded a dominant 69-48 victory over Belmont in their first meeting on Jan. 18. Murray State's high-powered offense currently ranks first in the conference, and the team leads the nation in made free throws per game.
Beyond Poock, the Racers rely on junior forward Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, who averages a double-double, and junior guard Haven Ford. Belmont has found its rhythm since the January loss, winning four straight at home behind a defense that holds opponents to 37% shooting.
Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. CST and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
