MURRAY, Ky. - Murray State returns home for the first time in two weeks Sunday afternoon, hosting a Valparaiso team that arrives in Murray off the backs of a 2-1 win over Indiana State.
Valparaiso is one of the few Missouri Valley opponents with an all-time winning record against Murray State, leading the all-time series 5-3-1. The teams have split four meetings in Murray 2-2, and the Racers took the most recent one, a 2-1 win on Oct. 20, 2024, in what remains the last time the two sides met.
Murray State arrives off a 2-1 loss at Southern Illinois in which it led a road match for the first time this season. Junior midfielder Natalie Miller scored the first goal of her career two minutes and 55 seconds in, the earliest Racer goal of the year by more than half an hour, and Murray State out-shot the Salukis on target 5-4 and took a 6-4 edge in corner kicks against the stingiest defense in the conference.
- Senior goalkeeper Griselda Revolorio ranks second in the Missouri Valley with 50 saves, third in saves per game, fourth in goals-against average and fifth in save percentage. She has played every minute of the season, 990, and has 50 of Murray State's 51 team saves.
- Revolorio ranks fourth in program history with 241 career saves, third with 17 shutouts and third with 5,053 minutes, a mark that moved her past Jenna Villacres against Illinois State.
- Seven Racers have scored in 2026 and none has more than one goal. Five of the seven were the first of a player's collegiate career.
- Murray State has committed three yellow cards, fewest in the Missouri Valley, and has drawn no red cards. Valparaiso has nine yellows, second most in the league.
- Junior forward Breece Bass and Miller share the team lead with four points apiece, each on a goal and two assists. Bass ranks fourth in the conference with 25 shots and sits two goals shy of 10 for her career.
- Murray State is 1-3-1 at Cutchin Field, where six of its eight goals have been scored, and has allowed one goal or fewer in six of its last seven matches.
Scouting the Beacons
Valparaiso is 5-5-1 and 1-1 in league play after beating Indiana State 2-1 at home on Sept. 27, handing the Sycamores their second loss of the season. The Beacons opened the conference schedule with a 4-0 loss to Drake.
Valparaiso is the most direct attacking side Murray State has faced in conference play, with 18 goals on 136 shots and 61 on target at 12.4 attempts a match. Martha Goddard leads the Beacons with seven goals and 18 shots on goal, and Kiara Desiderio has six. The two share the team lead at 14 points apiece, more than three times Murray State's leading total.
Valparaiso has allowed 17 goals for a 1.55 goals-against average with three shutouts, splitting goalkeeper minutes between Salange Bell, who has 36 saves and two shutouts, and Adria Schultz.
