RACERS LEAD FROM THE FRONT
Murray State was picked first in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) 2026-27 preseason poll, the league office announced on October 13. The selection marked the first time the Racers have been picked atop the MVC preseason predictions.
BACK HERE AGAIN
Murray State opens the season in South Dakota in the Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon for the second-straight year after grabbing an 85-77 victory over Omaha last November in Ryan Miller's first head coaching victory.
HOMETOWN GUY
Head Coach Ryan Miller will coach approximately 75 miles from his hometown of Mitchell, South Dakota on Monday morning in front of family and friends, many of whom now live in Sioux Falls.
FAMILIAR FOES
Separated by just 120 miles, Murray State and Tennessee State have squared off 75 times previously, with the Racers holding a 58-17 edge over the former OVC foe. The first matchup came in November 1983, with the most recent meeting in February 2022.
TALKIN' TIGERS
Tennessee State ended 2025-26 with a 23-10 overall record and won the OVC regular season and tournament titles, advancing to the NCAA Tournament before falling to Iowa State in the opening round. The Tigers were selected as the OVC preseason favorite, garnering 13 of the 18 first place votes and 125 total points.
NEUTRAL SITE SETTINGS
After three road contests during October's exhibition slate, Murray State will not play a true road game in the regular season until the Racers travel to Indiana State on December 19 to begin MVC road action. Ahead of that matchup, the Racers will play Tennessee State in South Dakota (Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon),  Hofstra in Memphis (Savage Brothers Showcase), play two games as part in the Baha Mar Championship, face Georgia Tech in Nashville (Bad Boy Mowers Series) and face Santa Clara in Las Vegas (Jack Jones Classic).
