The Racers meet the Salukis for the 46th time in their all-time series
The Murray State Racers tangle with the Southern Illinois Salukis Friday in another big game in the Missouri Valley Conference 20-game grind as each team is seeking to gain a foothold in the second half of the league season.
The game finds the Racers coming off an 81-77 win at home Tuesday over the UIC Flames, while the Salukis were road winners when they defeated Illinois State 54-50 in Normal.
For the first time in 20-straight games, the Racers made a change to their starting lineup when freshman Roman Domon made the start and led the Racers by scoring 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
The top rebounder and shot blocker in the MVC, MSU's Fred King had his eighth double-double of the season on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
The Racers are 3-4 against SIU since joining the MVC in 2022. The Salukis won the first four meetings in league play and the Racers have won the last three, including the first meeting in Murray (Dec. 29) 84-81.
The Racers are in a 12-day stretch in which they play five games. After the game in Carbondale, the Racers are at home Monday to host Northern Iowa.
