Racers to Kick off MVC Schedule at Home Against Panthers

The Murray State Racers (8-11) are kicking off Missouri Valley Conference play in the 2026 season with a home series against the UNI Panthers (7-9) at Racer Field in Murray, Kentucky.
Murray State is currently eighth in the MVC standings before the beginning of conference play, while the Panthers are one spot ahead in seventh.
The Racers are coming off a weekend at the John Cropp Classic in Lexington, Kentucky, that saw them pick up wins over Michigan State and Dayton. The Racers opened the weekend in dramatic fashion, as Adison Hicks hit a walk-off homer to beat the Spartans. In the win over Dayton, Murray State benefited from a dominant day in the circle by Bre Haislip, as the senior pitched a complete game and allowed just three hits while striking out six.
Bailey Broemmer leads the team at the plate with a .356 batting average, 10 RBI, and a pair of home runs. Her fellow outfielder, Kynadee Warner, is second on the team with a .339 average and leads the team with 20 hits, all singles. In addition to being a productive hitter, Warner is fifth in the MVC with eight stolen bases, one behind Katy Huels, who is in fourth with nine. Huels is currently hitting .288 and has tallied three RBI on the year. Freshman catcher Allie Waldron is third on the team with a .298 batting average and features nine RBI and two home runs in addition to leading the team with 13 walks.
Bre Haislip (3-2) leads the Racers and is fifth in the MVC with an ERA of 2.63 and leads the Racers with 27 strikeouts across 45 1/3 innings pitched. Emily Siurek (0-2) is second on the team with a 3.20 ERA across 19 2/3 innings, and Karlye Graber (2-3) is third with an ERA of 4.01 across 29 2/3 innings with 23 strikeouts on the year. Raylee Roby (2-1) has a 3.50 ERA through 18 innings, and Hailey Brereton (1-3) has a 12.00 ERA through 9 1/3.
Scouting the Panthers
Northern Iowa enters the weekend with a 7-9 record following the non-conference portion of its schedule. On Saturday, it snapped a four-game losing streak with a 9-2 win over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The Panthers lead the MVC with 23 home runs on the season and feature several of the conference's leading hitters, as Skylar Benesh is third in the Valley with a .444 batting average and Kate Lappe is second in the league with 19 RBI. Benesh and Lappe are also second and third in the league with seven and six home runs, respectively. The UNI pitching staff features a 4.52 team ERA with Anna Wischnowski (3-4) leading the team with 41 innings pitched, 26 strikeouts, and a 4.27 ERA. Ashlyn Enke (2-0) has an ERA of 6.00 across 21 innings and features 21 strikeouts. Maddy McDermott (1-4) has an ERA of 6.11 across 18 1/3 innings and has struck out 16.
