MURRAY, Ky. – Following a dominant victory over Kentucky State, Murray State Baseball prepares for its final non-conference weekend test against Lindenwood before Missouri Valley Conference play begins.
Luke Mistone enters the series riding the momentum of a career-best performance. Against Kentucky State, Mistone notched new career highs in hits, runs scored, and RBIs, cementing himself as a focal point in the Racers' lineup as they head into the weekend.
The Racers (11-6) are looking to stabilize their play away from home. After a tough, winless trip to Orlando dropped their road record to 1-5, Murray State returns to the road seeking to rediscover the rhythm that defined their successful start to the season.
Lindenwood (8-9) arrives with momentum of its own, having won three of its last four games, including a midweek sweep of Bradley. The Lions' offense is powered by Jake Radosevich, who has posted a stellar 1.076 OPS through 17 games. Radosevich currently leads the team in home runs, RBI, walks, and batting average, posing a primary challenge for the MSU pitching staff.
The Racers carry a perfect all-time record into the matchup, having won all five previous meetings in what has been a brief but one-sided series history. Murray State aims to generate further momentum with the start of the Valley schedule just around the corner.
The Racers' weekend rotation features Nic Schutte on Friday followed by left-hander Jacob Hustedde on Saturday, with Sunday's starter still to be determined. Schutte takes the mound carrying national recognition, having recently been named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame's National Pitcher of the Year Watchlist. The right-hander has been stellar to open the campaign, posting a 3.68 ERA with 21 strikeouts over 22.0 innings of work.
