Racers Return to Murfreesboro for Second Midweek Matchup vs. MTSU

MURRAY, Ky. - For the second time this season, Murray State baseball will face Middle Tennessee on the road in a Tuesday matchup.
Last time the two programs faced off, just two weeks ago, MTSU edged out MSU with a 5-2 win. The Racers were limited to just one hit by the Blue Raider pitching staff, while scoring two runs, one coming from a wild pitch.
Murray State enters Tuesday's contest with a 2-6 record over the last eight games, struggling to find consistency on offense in that stretch.
The Racers have struggled to find consistency with the bats as of late, scoring just three runs last weekend at Lindenwood, despite scoring 26 in a midweek against Kentucky State.
While the bats had a quiet weekend, the Racers pitching staff thrived. Jacob Hustedde tied a career high in innings pitched with five innings of one-run pitching on Saturday, striking out four.
Drew Deremer had a breakout performance in his second career start, tossing 6.1 innings of shutout pitching, allowing just two hits.
Since the Blue Raiders and Racers faced off two weeks ago, MTSU has gone 3-5, with a series win over C-USA opponent Kennesaw State, along with getting swept by non-conference opponent UAB.
The Racers will look to continue the momentum with their arms and find some consistency with the bats.
Tuesday's game will not be streamed, but fans are encouraged to follow along on the MTSU radio broadcast and live stats via GoRacers.com.
