Racers Set for Three Midweek Contests

The Murray State Racers are gearing up for a week that includes midweek games at Belmont and at home against Austin Peay.
The Racers open the week on Tuesday with a doubleheader against the Belmont Bruins before returning home on Wednesday to host the Austin Peay Governors.
Murray State (12-15, 4-4 MVC) sits in sixth in the MVC standings after losing two of three at Evansville over the weekend.
The Racers' win came in the final game of their series against Evansville by a score of 3-1 after falling 3-0 and 6-5 in the first two games. In the win, senior Bre Haislip pitched 6 1/3 innings in relief, allowing only one hit and striking out three. Parker Holcombe hit .571 across seven at-bats to lead the team with three RBI on four hits across the weekend. Freshman catcher Allie Waldron hit .455 and led the team with five hits and two doubles on the weekend.
The Murray State offense continues to benefit from speed on the basepaths, as the Racers are second in the MVC with 44 stolen bases. Kynadee Warner and Katy Huels are tied for fourth in the conference with 10 steals each. Warner leads the Racers with a .389 batting average and 35 hits, while Huels is hitting .250 with 21 hits and is leading the team with 15 walks. Allie Waldron is hitting .329 with 25 hits and leads the team with six doubles, while senior Bailey Broemmer leads the team with 13 RBI and three home runs while batting .306.
Bre Haislip (4-5) leads the Murray State pitching staff with a 2.80 ERA across 70 total innings, 17 appearances, and three complete games this season. Sophomore Karlye Graber (5-4) features a team-high 44 strikeouts across 59 innings with a 3.92 ERA.
Scouting the Bruins
The Racers lead the all-time series 26-13, though the Bruins have won four straight, including a sweep in 2025 with a run differential of 19-0. The Bruins are atop the MVC standings with a 21-7 record and an 8-1 mark in conference play. Sixth-year head coach Laura Matthews has a career record of 353-242-1, having spent four seasons at Wright State and five years at Wittenberg University. Belmont features the third-best team batting average in the country at .295, while Rylee Spindler is second in the league, hitting .464 on the season, and leads the team with 39 hits, while Madison Dolecki leads the team with 23 RBI and five home runs. Emily Konz is third in the league with 16 stolen bases. The Bruins' pitching staff leads the MVC with a 2.03 team ERA, and Maya Johnson (14-1) has the lowest ERA in the nation at 0.57 and leads the country with 203 strikeouts across 98 innings pitched and 15 complete games.
Scouting the Governors
Murray State has a 24-25 advantage in the all-time series against Austin Peay, having won the most recent matchup 6-5 in eight innings on April 8, 2025. The Governors are fifth in the ASUN Gold Division with a 19-13 record and a 2-4 mark in conference play. Eighth-year head coach Kassie Stanfill is the all-time winningest coach in Governors softball history with a 209-155 career record. Emilee Baker leads the team with a .396 batting average and 44 hits, while Brie Howard features team highs of 15 home runs and 48 RBI. Austin Peay pitchers have combined for a 3.88 team ERA, while Alanah Jones (12-6) leads the team with a 2.73 ERA and 73 strikeouts across 97 innings.
